This view of Fish Beach on Monhegan Island was painted from the rock jetty that blocks the harbor from the open ocean. I was interested in capturing the sweep of the buildings along the waterfront. Painting from the jetty was a challenge, as this is seagull-central. Everyone is encouraged to dump food waste and the gulls have a field-day. The gray fish house just right of center I later rented - what a great view that place had.
