The title of this painting is an homage to Edward Hopper, who's Early Sunday Morning depicted the harsh light on a row of buildings. This painting was done in Ellicott City early on Sunday in July before the usual crowds were out and about. The building in the foregound has unusual angles and looks out of perspective - it was not built on a lot with right angles. The colors were unusual as the building was painted a mauve, and it was challenging to try and show both the cool shadow while making the lit sides still look warm. I like the way the street made an "s" curve and receded down the hill. The humidity already was rising, making the trees in the background blur into an interesting blue.
